Things to check out at the fair

8.31.11

We are on the seventh day of the fair and it has been a lot of fun so far!  Being in the Ag/Hort building has its benefits....we can get cider freezes for $1.00, the MN Florist Association has roses for $8.00 for  two dozen now, and project clean water is filling water bottles up with cold filtered water for free!  If you get here in the morning I recommend trying Tajas Big Breakfast  Burrito!  It is only $2.50 and inclused a free coffee. I think I have had one almost every morning.  It has to be the best deal here.  Also, stop by our booth if you get a chance.  We are displaying our new 5 and 10 gallon oak wine barrels and our Adirondack chairs made from wine barrel staves.  I think we have had hundreds of people tested sit it so far... some people don't want to get up :)

The second day of the MN Fair

8.26.11

Ok, so it's been a long time since I wrote anything in here, but is has been such a busy season!  We have sold so many barrels this year and now have hundreds more people collecting rain water!  I am so happy about that. For some silly reason I think everyone has a rain barrel or is familiar with one.  At the MN Fair, I realized that so many people still don't know what a rain barrel is and are just learning about them.  Luckily, we have really cool whiskey and wine rain barrels that get people to stop and ask questions.  So, stop by our booth at the Ag/Hort building and visit us!  We are located in the Northwest entrance.  (Across from us they are selling a dozen roses for $5.99.  I'm getting four dozen to take home with me tonight...oh la la) Plus, we have our rain barrel up at the Eco House again by the community garden by Russ Henry at Giving Tree Gardens.

"I have a rice cooker" The best pick up line ever
4.11.2011

I was at Amazing Thailand in Uptown (Minneapolis) the other day for happy hour and our bartender was this 4’11” really cute, spunky Thai girl.  She new everything about the menu and had a great personality, plus she made some great drinks.

While my boyfriend and I were enjoying the spring rolls (only $3.00 during happy hour!) and the signature drinks from Amazing Thailand, a group of guys sitting down the bar from us were drinking and having a great time too.

One of the guys was a flamboyant gay guy who had a boisterous personality that was infectious.  Apparently, one of the straight, tall blonde guys (I think he said he was 6’2”) confided in him that he thought the bartender was cute.

Of course the gay guy took it upon himself to help make the connection. He told the bartender that the blonde guy thought she was cute.  The bartender smiled.  The tall blonde guys follow-up, was: “I have a rice cooker and can make you all the rice you want!”

That had to be the funniest pickup line I ever heard.  I almost choked on my drink.  I am not sure if she went out with him but I think she at least found it comical and was somewhat entertained by the notion.

I give guys props for originality!

The New Barrel Blog
4.2.2011

I just thought I would start a weekly blog or maybe a monthly blog depending on how creative I feel.

Recently, I have been traveling a lot and have been introduced so many new things that I would love to share with others.  Some things are environment and barrel related.  Some are just really cool things that people should check out.

One really cool thing I think people should check out is Northwoods Smoke.  They purchase our barrels and make some awesome smoking chips with them.  They are great for smoking meats and add so much flavor to food.  Plus, they are a local Minnesotan company, so visit their website and try some chips! http://www.northwoodssmokeofmn.com/
